Mithya, directed by Rohan Sippy, is part of the platform’s ongoing effort to cater to worldwide audiences’ different entertainment interests by producing original and compelling material that creates a lasting impact on viewers. Cheat, a British television drama starring Katherine Kelly and Molly Windsor, has been adapted into an Indian psychological thriller.
Juhi Adhikary (Huma Qureshi), a Hindi literature professor at a Darjeeling college, may be seen suppressing her fantasy sensations in the campus restroom, where she believes someone is chasing her towards the start of the series. Later, when reviewing her pupils’ work, she summoned one of them, Rhea Rajguru (Avantika Dassani), to her cabin, accusing her of plagiarism. Rhea asserts her innocence, which sets off a chain of events in which Juhi and Rhea find themselves in each other’s crosshairs. Rhea attempts to establish her innocence several times. Juhi, on the other hand, did not listen to her, despite the fact that a teacher is constantly aware of each student’s level. Things quickly spin out of control, resulting in an adversarial psychological battle between them that culminates in a surprising disclosure. In the middle of it all, Juhi’s husband, Neil Adhikari (Parambrata Chatterjee), is killed, and both ladies are considered to have plausible suspicions.
When it comes to cinematography, it is highly commendable since one can see the breathtaking sights in the series that would entice you to visit the location or just reside there. Furthermore, the camera work is outstanding.
Next, the tale is extremely great, but you may get bored at times in the midst of the story. Furthermore, there are certain unanswered questions that make you wonder whether this is indeed the end. Also, the series moves at a leisurely pace, and you must be patient to find out what happens next.
Huma Qureshi, who is known for her eclectic roles and unique choices, delivers another powerful performance in Mithya. Qureshi portrays Juhi Adhikari, a highly sympathetic character who is a self-made Hindi literature professor who is ambitious, independent, and self-made. Avantika Dassani, the daughter of Bollywood actress Bhagyashree, will make her digital streaming debut on ZEE5 Global with Mithya. She portrays Rhea Rajguru, a hypersensitive, manipulative, and rebellious young woman with a troubled family background and a cold-hearted father. Other performers, like Parambrata Chatterjee and Rajit Kapur, also get credit for their roles as Juhi Adhikary’s spouse and father, respectively.
Overall, Mithya is a suspenseful and dramatic thriller set at a university where knowledge and truth are sought, but each character deceives the other and, eventually, themselves. If you like psychological suspense, it’s a worthwhile series to watch over the weekend.
