Bhoot Police is a new offering by director Pavan Kirpalani.

Bhoot Police Cast: Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, Yami Gautam and Javed Jaffrey

Director: Pavan Kirpalani

Rating: ***

After the massive success of Stree, Bollywood is keen on making films with a tempering flavor of horror-comedy. Although, Laxmii and Roohi have thrown cold water on audiences’ hope and now with Bhoot Police, Bollywood has once again played a dicey game on the same subject. Releasing before the said date, Saif Ali Khan and Arjun Kapoor starrer Bhoot Police have arrived on the Disney Plus Hotstar. But, the most important question is whether the film will be able to achieve the benchmark set by the Stree or will it disappear like a frightened ghost. Let’s check it out through our review.

So Bhoot Police plotline follows the story of two brothers Vibhuti (Saif Ali Khan) and Chironji (Arjun Kapoor), who basically denotes themselves as Tantriks. They work to remove the obstacles of ghosts, where Vibhuti is a complete hypocrite and fools people, Chironji believes in tantra mantras and ghosts. One day, the brothers encounter Maya (Yami Gautam), the owner of a tea garden. Maya’s employees are frightened by a Kichkandi ghost, due to which they want to leave their job and state. But Maya wants to run her father’s tea business instead of suffering losses. Whereas her sister Kanu (Jacqueline Fernandez) has the least interest in her family business. Both Vibhuti and Chironji promised Maya to help her but will they be able to catch the ghost or will they fool her. Well, you will get the answers once you’ll watch this tale of laughs and chill.

Pavan Kirpalani is famous for creating some out-of-the-box horror flicks, it is the first time when the filmmaker steps into the comedy with the horror genre. The story has been driven by Pooja Ladha Surti, Sumit Batheja and Pavan Kirpalani and the three deserve applause for their commendable job as they keep the film entertaining and ground to its plotline. Nothing over-the-top bullshit has been added by the writers. Along with characters development, they refresh each scene with their quirky punchlines.

Jaya Krishna Gummadi’s cinematography is prepossessing and Pooja Ladha Surti’s editing grabbed its pace in the second half. Thanks to the makers for not running the film flow by adding any score. Still, Vishal Dadlani’s song Ishq Ae Tabahi Tauba is a great pleasure to hears. The title track Aayi Aayi Bhoot Police is a peppy dance number. Each location has something to deliver as it looks enthralling on the screen.

Moving on to the performances, then Arjun Kapoor has done a great job and he proves himself with his commendable acting. Jacqueline Fernandez will make you laugh with her role and dialogue delivery. Yami Gautam also did justice with her character and she even recites her dialogue in her native language. Javed Jaffery’s role was short but you will remember him for his funny appearances. But the one who steals the show is, nonother than Saif Ali Khan. The actor’s rib ticking comic timings, his expressions will bring a huge smile to your face.

Although, you will find the story unbelievable and also some of the scenes will remind you of Conjuring and other Hollywood flicks. Embracing all, we will recommend you Bhoot Police for the weekend binge-watch.
