The Busan International Film Festival Award Nominee, Nushrratt Bharuccha, who rose to fame with her quirky comedy films like ‘Pyaar Ka Panchnama’ series, ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’, and ‘Dream Girl’ is now making buzz amongst the audiences for her upcoming Prime Video release ‘Chhorii. Stepping into the shoes of the protagonist, Sakshi, Nushrratt is all set to venture into the horror genre with her solo lead, carrying the entire movie on her shoulder. She bagged the film post a meet with her former producer Vikram Malhotra (Founder & CEO, Abundantia Entertainment), which seems to have ended on a quite interesting note.
Bharuccha, awaiting the release of her film ‘Chhorii, recently opened up on how she bagged the film and landed the role she had never played before. Speaking about her meet with Vikram Malhotra, who has known her from LSD and other projects, Nushrratt said, “He was my producer on LSD when Balaji was doing it. Then he was my producer on Pyaar Ka Punchnama when he was in Viacom and after that, so he’s known me for a while.”
Revealing her excitement on the day Nushrratt stepped to Malhotra’s office with no agenda, and met producer Jack which turned out to be unexpectedly luckier for her, she went on, “That day when I went to office, he asked me to step in and meet the producer Jack. I had no clue who Jack was, Vikram just said he’s somebody tying up with him for a film… The first thing Jack asked me was my thoughts on Indian society and I was like, oh! I further discussed with him things that I felt we need to improve, whether it’s education or population control, electricity or water supply or just basic things that people need to get on an everyday basis. So, this is how chatted about India for like an hour…”.
Nushrratt got a call back from Vikram post that conversation and came to know that was the film they were planning to work on, and Jack found her perfect for the role. Closing her quote on how just one conversation with Jack made her up for the film, Nushrratt added, “I think I was at the right place at the right time, and it was just coincidence that Jack sat down in front of me before his flight and chatted with me. And just like that I was on for the film. Simple. It was just one conversation.”
Prime Video already gave the audience a visual treat with a spine-chilling trailer very recently, and a special motion poster that released early October. Fans are jumping in excitement to see Nushrratt as Sakshi, and her journey from the city to a secluded village, where she experiences all things paranormal. Nushrratt has shown her versatility with this never-seen-before avatar and is certainly going to leave the audiences on the edge of their seats.
