South Korean series Squid Game has become Netflix’s biggest original show launch ever. As per the Bloomberg News reports, the show would add about $900 million to the streaming giant’s value. Well, Squid Game is not the first show that brought international fame to Netflix as Spanish drama ‘Money Heist’ and English series, ‘The Crown’ have already worked in the favor of digital platforms. Even in India, People loved Squid Game and it is still trending on the top list but seems like Pakistanis are not happy with the show makers.
Well, the reason is the Pakistani character of Ali Abdul played by Indian actor Anupam Tripathi. Anupam played the role of a Pakistani migrant worker who works in South Korea and because of his poor condition, decides to take part in the deadliest hefty game. Now, Pakistani netizens are bombarding their anger on social media and complaining that why international filmmakers hire Indian actors to play Pakistani descendants. Check out their tweets here –
Just Finished Netflix series Squid Games season 1,
A good show but It’s so frustrating to see Pakistani characters in big TV series being played by Indian actors. Why can’t these productions cast original Pakistani actors for such roles?.#SquidGames #Netflix— Wadoodsanjrani (@SanjraniWadood) October 10, 2021

being pakistani myself, i am kind of disappointed that they cast an indian actor for a paki character in squid game instead of just casting a paki actor,or better yet, made modifications to his character so he could be indian cuz tbh it feels like a slap in the face:/ #squidgame
